Why simultaneous matters more than it sounds
In the sequential version somebody is always second. Their camera goes on after they have already seen the other person, which means the decision to be visible is made with information the other side did not have. Small asymmetry, big effect on who feels comfortable.
Opening both at once removes it. Neither person is deciding whether to be seen based on what they have already seen, so nobody is negotiating from behind.
It runs in the browser, and that is deliberate
No install, no store listing, no permission bundle that outlives the visit. The camera permission is scoped to the tab and dies with it — closing the tab is a complete exit, not a logout.
It also means nothing on your machine advertises that you were here. There is no app icon, no background service, and no account to be found later.
What happens to the video
Nothing is recorded and nothing is stored. There is no library, no replay, no per-user archive — the feed exists for the length of the call and then does not exist.
The honest caveat: no site anywhere can stop a person pointing a second device at their own screen. That is true of every video call ever made. Treat the other end as live, because it is.
